Enterprising Britain Awards

The 2017 Enterprising Britain Award winners have now been announced and can be viewed on our News page.

The 2018 Awards will be open for entries in March 2018.

The Enterprising Britain Awards are open to UK public organisations that are local, regional or national and to private organisations working in partnership with public sector bodies or organisations.

The Enterprising Britain Awards have been run each year since 2003 and attract entries from all parts of the United Kingdom from public organisations that are local, regional or national and to private organisations working in partnership with public sector bodies or organisations.

There are 4 categories in the awards, and for 2017 there will be a new emphasis on projects that can demonstrate their impact on Scale Up within their activity. This overall focus on Scale Up can apply to a project submitted in any of the 4 categories.

The award categories in 2017 have remained the same as in recent years and are:

  • Promoting entrepreneurial spirit
  • Building enterprise skills
  • Improving the business environment
  • Support for exporting

One of the four category winners will also receive the prestigious title of “Most Enterprising Place in Britain” and additionally two of the winners will be selected as the UK entries for the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.

The Enterprising Britain Awards are part of the Government’s drive to increase entrepreneurial activity in the UK. They are managed by Investment in Young People on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

This competition will decide who gets the title of “Most Enterprising Place in Britain” along with identifying the UK entries to the European Enterprise Promotion Awards.
